Although it has only been 18 months since it was formed, ÜSTÜN ENERGY ENGINEERING LLC’s wind energy investment WindDecision® has secured Eurostars funding with two partners from Denmark for a new software tool to be developed for wind energy markets of Denmark and Turkey. Eurostars supports international innovative projects led by research and development- performing small- and medium-sized enterprises (R&D-performing SMEs).
The grant application is made by the three partners, EMD International A/S, ÜSTÜN ENERGY ENG. LLC and Technical University of Denmark (DTU). EMD is the developer of the industry standard software windPRO. DTU is one of the most respected wind energy research centers in the world for over 30 years, having developed industry’s core wind energy tool WAsP. The project will led by EMD and is funded by the national funding agencies of Denmark and Turkey; InnovationFunden and TÜBİTAK, respectively.
The project will run from the 1st of July 2016 for 2 years. The new technology aims to lower the uncertainty in the site assessment stage of wind farms and it will be implement into windPRO software. Initial targets are Denmark and Turkey but the technology will have the potential to grow worldwide. Nevertheless, the Turkish and Danish markets will be the first ones to benefit from the new technology.
ÜSTÜN Energy Eng. LLC founder and R&D manager of WindDecision® team, Dr. Ferhat Bingöl says “We are happy to team-up with these important R&D members of the industry and are looking forward to developing a new technology targeting first the Turkish market. When it comes to site assessment there are several bottlenecks for Turkey; complex terrain being the most important”.
